Who I am, and Why I won't change it

My name is Sarah Palin. I happen to share the same first name and last name with a popular conservative politician from the United States. That is about as much as most people (read everyone on twitter) knows about me, and far more refuse to be smart and grasp that people sometimes have the same name.

If you're thinking about finding out where I live or what I do for a living your out of luck, I'm not going to share that. Just know I'm a mid-20s woman who would like to make a name for herself outside of "You betcha!" or any other "joke" people say when I first tell them my name.

It's tough being "The other" (my phrase) Sarah Palin, and I have no clue how I managed to get the name on twitter. I had been hearing about twitter from friends and newscasts in the area so I signed up. During that time I decided to try using the handle @sarahpalin. Much to my surprise it worked and before I knew it I had the handle. I didn't set out with the goal of shutting the other Sarah out of twitter, and I sure as hell didn't set out to confuse or pretend to be the ex-governor.

While I didn't set out with either of those goals, it seems I've inherited them. It's not as bad as it use to be, but I still get tweets directed at the other Sarah and not at me. In fact a majority of my mentions are wrongly sent. This use to bother me, namely when I would get tweets that used foul or offensive language, but I've learned to laugh at the people who can't seem to read and live blissfully ignorant of facts.

Some people have suggested I should change my twitter handle and pave the way for the other one to come in. They claim it would save me the hassle of dealing with replies and would allow the other Sarah to tweet. Well that isn't going to happen. I'm not going to change to conform to someone else. My name is Sarah Palin that is who I am and I'm not going to run from it, or hide that fact. If the ex-governor wanted the account it was obviously open before I showed up and she didn't take it, her loss.

If you tweet me wrongly I will probably tweet you back, either to point out your error or laugh at your mistake. I'm not a rude person (least I don't think I am), but if you tweet me and say stuff like c*nt or I can't read, I'm not going to take that lying down. I may not agree with the ex-governor's positions on a lot of the issues, but I feel for her after seeing the childish crap supposed adults say publicly about her, and I will do everything I can to humiliate you if you don't bring humility and dignity to the debate.
